Paperwork Needed To Transport Remains From Abroad

There are many details to take care of; depending on the country of origin and destination of the remains. You may not be able to handle all of it by yourself.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

First and foremost, know that the local national embassy can help you overcome language barriers and obtain some of these important documents.

Without these documents you may not be given clearance to repatriate. Imagine how burdensome that would be.

These documents include:

  • Embalming certificate
  • Data page of passport: this refers to the page carrying the biodata, date of issue and expiry.
  • Health waiver From the Ministry of Health: application for waiver is addressed to the Honourable Minister of Health.

Other documents are required before this waiver can be obtained.

  • Free from infection form
  • Out of England form (if repatriating from the UK)
  • Consent from Nigerian Embassy (if repatriating from the USA)

All the official documents accompanying the body should be submitted on arrival.
