AUTOPSY PROCESS
No. Omega Funeral Home does not perform autopsies and does not employ a pathologist. However, we provide private, secure facilities that can be used by licensed pathologists for autopsy services.
Our role is to:
- Provide the facility for the autopsy to be conducted
- Coordinate access with the pathologist and family
- Handle the transportation of the deceased to and from the facility
- Care for the body post-autopsy and resume funeral or burial arrangements
- Omega Funeral Home will assist with all post-autopsy services as per the family’s wishes.
While we do not employ or directly contract pathologists, we may provide a list of independent licensed professionals that families have worked with in the past. However, the final choice and arrangement are the family’s responsibility.
We recommend ensuring that the pathologist is:
- Board-certified and licensed in your region
- Experienced in the type of autopsy needed (private, second opinion, legal, etc.)
- Willing to travel to our facility or provide a written plan for the procedure
- Families should also request a written estimate and agreement before the autopsy is scheduled.
